Right now there are total of eleven planets, including the dwarf planets. The regular planets we all know, Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupitar, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune (now eight planets). The dwarf planets, Pluto, Ceres, and Eris.

Friday Free Write
One may find the solar system with only eight planets. Well that is not technically true, you see that the dwarf planets are still planets so the dwarf planets we find are still very much apart of this solar system. The dwarf planets will never be apart of the big boy planets. For what makes a planet a planet inhibits the dwarf planets to become regular planets, obviously why there is a difference.
